Composing in 3D
Thanks to his experience as a singer and a conductor, Maarten Van Ingelgem understands the mobile possibilities of choirs very well. In a lot of his choral compositions he uses this aspect in order to build an audiovisual environment. During this lecture he will focus on different techniques in creating compositions with an extra dimension.
Maarten Van Ingelgem studied at the conservatories of Brussels and Antwerp. In addition to his work as piano instructor and accompanist, he is currently Guest Professor of Harmony, Counterpoint and Composition at LUCA School of Arts. He conducts a choir for contemporary music and is one of the bass singers of Aquarius, also dedicated to contemporary vocal music. His oeuvre ranges from solo work to a piano concerto. In 2012 and 2015 he became laureate of the European Award for Choral Composers.
