A17 Waves of Sound – The Glorious Power of Male Choir
In this atelier you can really feel the power of male voices by performing music from high North – Scandinavia – and also from the Balkan region – Slovenia.
Born in 1980 in Slovenia, Jerica Gregorc Bukovec played the piano at an early age and finished her studies at the Music Academy of the University of Ljubljana. She studied choral conducting in Malmö, Sweden (Dan-Olof Stenlund) and continued her studies in Stockholm where she completed her choral conducting master degree at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (Anders Eby). She had been awarded third place in Europa Cantat Competition for young choir conductors in Ljubljana and was a finalist in Eric Ericson competition for young choir conductors. She has been awarded the Best Conductor at the Rimini International Choral Competition with Ēriks Ešenvalds as the president of the jury. Her career was also influenced by having worked with Swedish Radio Choir, Berliner Rundfunkchor, Kammerchor Stuttgart, Stockholm Academic Male Chorus (Stockholms Studentsångare) and others. Jerica Gregorc Bukovec is also the receiver of several grant awards by the republic of Slovenia Ministry of Culture, the Kungliga Musikaliska Akademin Stipendium, Eric Ericson resestipendium and Dan-Olof Stenlunds stipendium. She is an active conductor to Academic Choir Tone Tomšič University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.
